SUSHI RECIPE
Sushi is a traditional Japanese dish that typically consists of seasoned sushi rice, raw or cooked seafood, vegetables, and sometimes fruits, wrapped in sheets of seaweed called nori. Sushi can also be made with other ingredients such as tofu, egg, or meat.

Making sushi requires some preparation and practice, but here is a basic recipe to get you started:
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 2 cups water
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Nori sheets
- Sliced raw fish or cooked seafood of your choice
- Vegetables, such as avocado, cucumber, or carrot, sliced into thin strips
- Soy sauce and wasabi for serving
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Rinse the sushi rice in a strainer until the water runs clear. Then, place the rice and water in a pot and bring it to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 20 minutes.
- While the rice is cooking, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl. Microwave the mixture for 30 seconds or until the sugar dissolves.
- When the rice is done, transfer it to a large bowl and add the vinegar mixture. Mix gently with a spatula or wooden spoon until the rice is coated and has a slightly sticky texture.
- Lay a sheet of nori on a clean surface, shiny side down. Wet your hands with water to prevent the rice from sticking, and spread a thin layer of rice on the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top edge.
- Arrange the sliced fish or seafood and vegetables on top of the rice, and roll the sushi tightly, starting from the bottom edge. Use the border of rice at the top to seal the roll.
- Repeat with the remaining ingredients, and use a sharp knife to cut the sushi rolls into bite-sized pieces.
- Serve the sushi with soy sauce and wasabi on the side.
Note: Sushi-making can take some time to perfect, so don't be discouraged if your first rolls don't turn out perfectly. Practice makes perfect!
